This book is absolutely hilarious; especially if you listen to the audiobook, which I recommend. The narrator has the perfect voices for the characters. So, listen to the audiobook.
hmm, hadn't realized I made a comment earlier.

First off, do NOT expect this book to be the same as the 2003 movie with Steve Martin. This was a book originally written in the 1940's, hardly anything will be the same. That said, it's such a fun book about growing up in a not so average family. If you're younger, you're not going to know about some of the things they talk about, such as teddies. I had to look a lot of phrases and things up. But I still loved it a lot, and everybody should read it in their lifetime, as it's a classic. Some parts you won't believe actually happened, but they all did, and it happened out of love. Fantastic book, love love love!

"Then, [Dad] would get Martha out of the crib and bring her into the living room. "And this," he'd say, "is the latest model. Complete with all of the improvements. And don't think that's all; were expecting the 1911 model some time next month."
