The ingredients for this costume drama:
A few bare bones of historical truth
A generous helping of unnecessary romantic plot distractions
A small cast that continually cross paths, leading one to wonder if London was seriously underpopulated
A heavy dose of conspiracy theories and curly long wigs
A pinch of actual shots showing the scope of the burning city
Mixed together and overcooked, for a generally silly miniseries that might make you wish for those four hours back.

Interesting, but not great.

Subtitles were yellow with no background.
Was actually disappointed with this PBS presentation for a number of reasons...
1. The people were too clean, no way people & their clothing would be so pristine, its 1666 not 1966.
2. There was very little information about the actual fire, how it was fought, or perhaps ignored.
3. The story its based around was seriously lacking & made me wonder if there was a deserter by the name Will & if there was a shipwreck (or even a ship) named Charity .
4. At the end there was explaination as to if the people were compensated, if the ship was real etc.
Not worth watching if you want to know about the actual fire. Otherwise, it was entertainingish.

This is a pretty silly story overlaid upon some actual facts surrounding The Great Fire. The problem is, those who don't know their history will take it as truth.

Really enjoyed this mini-series. As with most PBS endeavors, the sets and costumes are very true to the period, and the acting is outstanding. If you do not know a lot about English history, I suggest you look up King Charles II on Wikipedia and learn a little about him (he is the King portrayed in the video) and also his father, Charles the I, who was executed. It will give you a better understanding of the dynamics. Took me a while to figure out which character Jack Houston (the assassin in Boardwalk Empire) was playing!
