This book is about the selection and training process of the US Army Special Forces or “Green Berets”. What I found interesting about the book was that the greatest skills for these people is cultural and social competence. These operators must train and lead local forces to get the job done. They focus on being both exceptional soldiers but also exceptional linguists and influencers. The book (Written by a Navy Seal Officer) makes the case that as a result, the Green Berets are the most important troops to the United States as we have entered a new era of asymmetrical warfare.
