"Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce, " Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive. Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer"-- Provided by publisher.

Wow, this was a fun, fast-paced read. I couldn't put it down. I didn't think romance scenes were all that bad....if anything they seemed strained, not natural. But still good book.

Have to agree with "snakie_chick" and "yoohoo5" regarding the excess of sex and vulgar language. Great plot twists; I, too, guessed the wrong culprit.

A really great read! Suspenseful with plot twists you don't expect.

I enjoyed this book. The final ending was really a surprise. I hadn't even thought of that person as being guilty.

Would have been a great book but Brown threw in some Harlequin Romance novel bullsh*t.

I'm on the fence on this one. I'm giving it 2 stars because I really don't need to read about explicit sex, profanity and violence. That doesn't make a good novel, and many times detracts.
The other thing about this novel is the hero is just too super-human: smart, muscular, clever, etc. and it makes the female character seem weak.
What is good about this novel is the twist in the end. When you think you have it figured out, the novel provides a twist.

I have been a fan of Sandra Brown for a long time. This is one of the best books I have read. It kept me guessing right up to the end. I guessed wrong as it was. This is a can't put it down type of book.

Best book I've read in a long time....lots of twists, lots of suspense!

A better version of Skinny Dip. I found the similarities between Mean Streak and Skinny Dip uncanny, but Mean Streak was better written and I really enjoyed the performance of the actor who read the book. Definitely would recommend.
