Dr. Ryan Stone is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky. On a seemingly routine spacewalk, the shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left, and the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

This movie didn't hold my attention for long. It was one catastrophe after another, which gets boring. I am a huge fan of Sandra Bullock, which is why I rented it.

Amazing special effects, I can see why this film won multiple Oscars in 2014.

I love Sandra B. but I was disappointed in this movie. I found myself getting bored with it not even half way through.

Fair warning, I sobbed throughout the movie. It's a wonderful addition to the space adventure movie genre. I'd recommend it to people who like psychological thrillers because a lot of the movie's power is in the ability of the viewer to identify with or imagine what it is like to be Dr. Ryan Stone. It might be cool to have a double feature night of this movie and Space Cowboys or The Martian.

I thought this was horrible in the movie theater, even more so on my TV. The only think worse than the storyline was the physics and actual science involved n this catastrophe of a film.

A medical doctor working on the Hubble Telescope? I don't think so. Astronauts basically goofing off and acting like drunk college kids in space? I don't think so. Wait until they get to space before they even have a simple conversation abut backgrounds? I don't think so. The plot and the various special effects were far beyond was could even be realistic that it took away from the film.

One the other hand, Sandra Bullock in booty shorts.

Such a phenomenal film. The vision, the action, the acting, the directing--all phenomenal. I am in awe how something like this can even be created with this medium. George Clooney was George Clooney, and I wouldn't have minded a different choice, though he played the role well. Sandra Bullock has never impressed me much, but she's great here. I've avoided the modern 3D movement and have not seen one film in 3D, but this was one that I wished I had seen in 3D. It must have been a fantastic--though possibly nauseating--experience. This is a film that will continue to be watched and rewatched for generations to come.

Entertaining movie. Yes it was predictable. Yes it was a pretty weak plot and over done in the Hollywood manner with disaster after disaster. However, you can't knock it for the special effects, awesome space/earth shots and some pretty clever seamless camera work. Enjoy it for what it is.

How did this junk get good reviews? It was awful. A lady hyperventilating through space. Nothing else.

This movie was one of the best action sci-fi movies I have ever seen. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney did an excellent job on this movie. Also I give props to Alfonso Cuarón for directing and producing this movie. This movie didn't win a lot of Oscars, Golden globes, People's Choice and all of the other awards for nothing. It took a lot of hard work and dedication putting this movie together. Plus it had an excellent storyline that the viewers can follow and relate to. Also it had a lot of great visual effects, a lot of animation, and sound effects to go along with it.

Very thrilling with a complete surprise in the middle. Lots of action. Love Sandra Bullock and G Clooney.

At 600KM above planet Earth the temperature fluctuates between +258 and -148 degrees Fahrenheit. There is nothing to carry sound. No air pressure. No oxygen. Life in space is impossible.
