I've never seen it, and I don't intend to! Christine was just bitching and moaning about being cut out of her mom's will!

Complete trash. Besides the fact that it is a portrayal of a woman completely different to how Joan Crawford really was, it was over exaggerated for more profit. Christina admitted the famous "No more wire-hangers!!" bit never happened, as well as the night raid with the axe and rose bush. Joan's other children Christopher, Cathy, and Cindy hated the film.

Famous for being one of the best, terribly bad movies, it almost has to be seen to be disbelieved.

Scary Mommie indeed! Joan Crawford was a good actress but a tormented soul in real life. Faye Dunaway gives a powerful performance. Loved the sets, costumes and music.

She's so horrible but this movie is so great! Great performance by Faye Dunaway as "Mommie Dearest" one of the worst mom's anyone can ask for!

Winner of 5 Razzie Awards, a camp classic (it has a large gay following) and basically disowned by star Faye Dunaway, you kinda have to see this. Dunaway goes full tilt as actress Joan Crawford, who is a monster to her adopted daughter. There is plenty of high camp, but, Dunaway aside, the acting is dull and the direction plodding. Worth it just for the line "No wire hangers ever!"

It was just that Christina Crawford sold millions of copies of her book in the '80s, plus this movie deal, after her train-wreck Mommie Dearest cut her and her brother out of her will. However, Christina apparently wasn't pleased with Dunaway's over-the-top performance, and neither was Mommie. Dunaway is reportedly haunted by Joan Crawford's ghost, and she's mad as hell!! (lol)

Horrorshow of all horrorshows._____ Released in 1981, Mommie Dearest is, without a doubt, a truly grotesque look behind the finely manicured facade of real-life actress Joan Crawford, one of Hollywood's biggest stars of the 1940s and 50s._____ Adapted for the screen from Christina Crawford's scandalous "tell-all" autobiography, Mommie Dearest is a very eye-opening tale, indeed. As Joan's adopted, and allegedly abused, daughter, Christina slams her foster-mother, but good._____ Actress Faye Dunaway plays Joan Crawford with such unblinking ferocity that, at times, she comes mighty close to turning her portrayal into a literal parody-from-hell._____ Dunaway's over-the-top performance has got to be seen to be believed. At every possible opportunity she chews up the scenery into literal shreds._____ Yep. Mommie Dearest is, indeed, a genuine Hollywood oddity. There's no doubt about that._____ It clearly shows the viewer what little respect Hollywood has for its dead.
