Monkey is a bad only the 8 episodes.

I recommend this quirky and funny HBO show directed and co-created by Christopher Guest for fans of Guest's movies (Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, etc.) and/or Chris O'Dowd as well as those who are interested in genealogy. There was only one season of the show, so this is the complete series.

Something different. Love the monkey puppet :-) Recommend.

A fun, absurd little show.

Love the cast - they are all strong actors and absolutely hilarious. Not absolutely in love with all of their characters though.

This is a very funny series, quintessential Guest. Ventriloquist Nina Conti and her Monk are especially hilarious. Wish HBO had continued it.

Subtle in its humour, this series seems much like life where things roll along quite normally and then the absurd shows itself....friends and family.

An added surprise is Nina Conti, who plays Tom Chadwick's somewhat 'off kilter' sister and who has brought her real life ventriloquist act into this little gem of a series.

This is not for viewers who are offended by the politically incorrect.

Funny. Sweet. Includes American stars - a surprise.

Christopher Guest and co. have set the bar pretty high from themselves in films like "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind" and this show, created, written and directed by Guest, took a few episodes to grow on me. And the humor is very dry, even for a Guest project. The very likable Chris O'Dowd plays the lead character, who starts investigating his genealogy, which eventually leads him to America. It definitely picks up the pace when he gets to the States. Guest regulars Michael McKean, Ed Begley Jr., Fred Willard, Bob Balaban and Guest himself make appearances. I don't think HBO picked this up, so this is the only season.
