I used this book for a house theme for storytime and the kids liked it better than I thought they would. The story is a nice, cozy, and sentimental read, but all the kids were able to enjoy it even if they did not have the same multi-generational home experience. I think it is the simple text and inviting illustrations that made this an engaging story for all.

Kind of a bummer if your family has moved a lot and there is divorce in your family. Not my favorite.
