I watched the movie a while ago before reading the book. Now that I've just finished the book, I detest the movie even more than I did before. They completely messed with the story. It's only really worth watching for Emmy Rossum being delightfully evil. (Although, they left out a lot of Ridley's part of the story.)

Not an especially inspired plot, with a so-so twist at the end. I always enjoy Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson, but the support wasn't really there.

Don't get me wrong, it was a terrible adaptation (and a pretty bad movie) but it was funny. I watched it at 1.5x speed and did CinemaSins commentary (Narration! *ding* (There was a lot of narration.)). I wouldn't have known any time passed at the beginning if I didn't already know what the number on Lena's hand meant from the book, the way it plays out it looks like it's all in the same day (even though it's something like a week). A lot of the magic stuff is thrown in at random and seems to break the world (like, how are we supposed to know what is and what isn't possible when mortals are doing magic and Casters seem to be able to do everything and anything on a whim even though they're supposed to have specific talents? And none of it is explained. If I hadn't read the books I wouldn't know that Lena being a Natural meant something important and that Larkin's talent was illusion powers). Basically, if you haven't read the books (all the books, because the ending is from book three or something) then this movie will be a confused, disjointed mess. If you have read the books it's still confused and disjointed, but you'll transplant the book plot into the movie and probably rant when they change half of it. But it was funny.

We loved everything about this movie. Great story, acting, and surprising for not very many famous leads! (I did not read the book but my partner did--of course I was told the book was much better than the movie but we still liked it).

Gothic southern romance between a mortal and a caster{witch} that is forbidden. Great cast, much better young lead actors than Twilight. Nice soundtrack, beautifully filmed, and I enjoyed the film.

Enjoyed this dark-ish, fantasty. Good special effects. Love Jeremy Irons; his character and his home's interior in this film was very cool. Now Emma Thompson ' s character was just so creepy. The dinner scene was a bit dumb. I don't relate this film to the "Twighlight" series at all.

Comparing this movie to twilight is just dumb. Beautiful Creatures has atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and the two lead actors are awesome. I don't know if the boy's accent was real, but I thought it was very charming and sexy. Most of all, the script had humor mixed in with the melodrama, and I really enjoyed all the characters. I would definitely watch this again and hope there is a seqel.

Cartoonish teen-romance magic Southern-gothic fantasy. Bitch-fight heavy. Makes for okay wallpaper.

Intriguing and sometimes funny flick. Old school family of witches deals with modern-day Old-South bible thumpers. Forces of good & evil at work.

I must say that this movie was good but then again it could have been much better, the story-line was very predictable as several of you had said and the screen-play was way-off of what the book indicates happened. All in all I liked this movie alot more than I had anticipated I would. I put up a stinck about even watching this movie but my sister insisted we have a movie night so we did.

Not the lead cast's best film but well done anyways. E for effort. :)

Lena Duchannes: I could hear the sound. The sound was me breaking. I cried because he had lived, because he had died. I was shattered. I was saved. I only knew the girl I was, was gone. He was right. No good could come from loving a mortal. They can't survive our world. Get out, Ethan; go. Claim yourself. in defiance, in hope, in love, in fury, in gratitude. Claim the light. Claim the dark, Claim it all. Nothing can stay.
