I would have a difficult time appropriately rating this movie as it is somewhat outside what I would prefer.

The Gift is in all ways, within its genre, well done.

A bit slow, but good story and performances by all.

Great performances by Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi and Keanu Reeves. This movie contains graphic violence.

Great movie! Probably best I've seen in a while. Cast, story line, acting excellent. Keanu Reeves, usually so laid back, was absolutely terrific.

Mediocre, TV movie like mystery. Not one of Sam Raimi's best, saddled between an awful looking Kevin Costner baseball movie and the equally mediocre Spider-Man trilogy, this seems to be most notable for a Katie Holmes nude scene.

good story, great twist at the end

Truly good supernatural suspense crime drama. Well acted. Good story. Some creepy effects and definitely spooky settings (the swamps of Georgia). Plot takes a few twists I never saw coming AND a pre-Tom Katie Holmes spends some time topless. Worth watching on all counts.

This is a relatively decent mystery/whodunit. Co-written by Billy Bob Thornton and directed by Sam Raimi (Spiderman 1,2,3, etc.). Cate Blanchett is terrific as the sweet, vulnerable, psychic widow involuntarily having visions of the murdered town skank (Katie Holmes). Lots of suspects: Keanu Reeves (Mr.Mullet) - small minded, cowardly, wife beating redneck, cheating on his wife with aforementioned skank; Hilary Swank (Mrs. Mullet) - beaten wife and woman scorned; Giovanni Ribisi (strong performance) - the auto mechanic with heavy mental issues; Greg Kinnear - mild mannered school principal engaged to cheating skank; and Gary Cole - district attorney also involved with skank and potentially worried about his reputation. The movie, as I said, was decent, but 'kinda' had a hint of a "Lifetime Network for Women" movie feel to it. (Yes, I admit it. I've seen a couple.) I love Cate Blanchett, though, so it was definitely enjoyable.
