Picked up this book because of the cover. I am a fan of pre-modern European historical fiction. Never heard of Hereward but I enjoyed the book immensely. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series

Enjoyed it immensely. Picked it up simply because of the cover. Then I found out it was about Hereward, a figure I'd heard of but knew virtually nothing about. I related to the warrior because like him I'd come up from some pretty bloody beginnings [emotionally] and fought my way up to mastering myself and taking the honorable path of knighthood. Enjoyed it? Read it four times; I'd say I enjoyed it!

Probably THE first historical fiction novel I have ever seen. Besides the Magic Treehouse. But those don't count as novels.
