This book was okay. I just could not get into the story. It was boring and drawn out. I wanted them to make the decision of who the prince was going to be. The training to become the prince bored me to tears.

This is a very good novel and I recommend it to others who like action and fantasy. It is PG which means kids can read this book. In this book, the main conflict is Sage, Tobias, and Roden are taken from orphanages and are forced to compete in a competition to become the missing Prince Jaron and take control of the kingdom. If you enjoy the first book, I suggest you read the 2nd book and 3rd book "The Runaway King" and "The Shadow Throne". Overall, it's one of the best story's I like and you will be hooked to it once you start reading it.

This is one of my favorite books by far (which is saying something because I read a ton). I recommend reading this book twice or at least go back and skim the book again once you have finished it. Those of you who have already read it know why. For any of you who are even considering this book, just do it. Definitely worth it.

This. Book. Is. Awesome. Period.
I'm actually in middle of my second time reading! It's just as awesome as the first!
Very well plotted.

Best. Book. EVER!

This book is for anyone who loves plot twists.
The first chunk of the book is rather boring, the back gives almost all of the details away. I honestly only kept reading because the main character's personality amused me. I'm very glad I didn't quit reading because I LOVED the rest!
The only other thing that I didn't like is that it doesn't mention everything the main character is doing throughout the book, but it makes the ending even better, so I guess I'll have to live with it.
I do recommend.

This was a pleasure to read and kept me guessing until the end. Such a great plot device to that the main character sneaking out at night and various times without revealing exactly what he is up to. Leads to excellent plot twists.

I finally decided to read this series late in the game. Will definitely continue with part two!

Quite a ride, through political intrigue and a planned court takeover. The overall tone of the book reminded me of Megan Turner's "The Thief" which has a similar plot revelation at the end. The False Prince was an exciting read, with minimal breaks in the action to fill in some background. Very well written, and oh so much fun! Definitely recommended!

One of my favorite! my friends recommended this to me for our independent novel study. the beginning was okay but the middle and the ending was great :) every scene in the book was heart-stopping yet it can make me laugh or cry. I also recommend this book called " A Night Divided " It is also by Jennifer A. Nielsen. Her books are so good. the second book of the False Prince is " The Runaway King " I haven't read it yet but many people said it is quite boring. But don't forget the last book of the series. my friends said the last book was really exciting. make sure to check out " A Night Divided " , " The Runaway king " , and " The Shadow Throne" :)

"Hail His Majesty, the scourge of my life!" Conner said to Roden and Tobias as he stomped up the stairs."I fear the devils no longer because I have the worst of them here in my home!"

apparently the nagging voice hadn't visited Latamer's head.

"You're the craziest person I've ever met.Tobias may be more educated than you, but he's not the smartest of us."

"I definitely don't like pain," I said firmly. "So if you decide to kill me make it quick."

" I never said that the dirt detracted from your beauty highness, only that it was there."

"You're worse than when I last saw you"Mott said.
"You shouldn't have whipped me so hard."
" You shouldn't have gotten yourself stabbed."

"I trust you." Tobias paused, as if weighing his own words."I do, Sage. I trust you."

"I've always thought I looked more like myself than anyone else."

"There's your alm for forgiveness, Roden. pay to the gods or the devils,or to Conner, whichever alter you bow to.but don't ask it from me."

Conner's hand flew to his mouth. "How can I have been so foolish? The devils must be laughing, for I nearly ruined everything!"

"They look angry," Tobias said to me."What did you do?"
"Is it always something I've done?" I asked."Don't you and Roden ever do anything to get their attention?"
"It's always something you've done." Roden agreed.

"you stole it from the master."
"Who stole it from me.What I did only set the universe back in order."

"Nice trick." Tobias said.
"It helps me think."
"What are you thinking about?"
"Ways to get you to stop talking to me.'

In the country of Carthya, a devious nobleman engages four orphans in a brutal competition to be selected to impersonate the king's long-missing son in an effort to avoid a civil war.

Jun 04, 2015

Sage is a fourteen year-old orphan who steals a roast from a local butcher, but is saved from his wrath by a nobleman named Bevin Conner. Conner is visiting different orphanages, and buying teenage boys who resemble the missing Prince Jaron, heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Carthya. Conner is a minor regent of the circle that surrounds the King. The King's wife and oldest son have been murdered. Conner is a patriot who wants to see the kingdom of Carthya preserved, rather than fall into civil war at the hands of Prime Regent Veldergraft. He therefore concocts the plan to place a fraud on the throne to avert the coming war. Jaron has been missing for years, and is presumed dead following a pirate attack.

Over the next two weeks, Sage and two other boys compete against each other to become Conner's choice for the imposter. By the end of the two weeks, Sage emerges as the choice, but spares the lives of his two competitors. Sage reveals that he is indeed Prince Jaron himself, stunning all those around him, including the king's court. It is further revealed that Conner is responsible for the murder of the royal family and led the pirate attack aimed at claiming the life of Sage/Jaron. Conner is arrested and Jaron assumes his rightful throne.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good

Sage has never been keen on the fact that he was an orphan but usually the trouble he got into was something he could handle.  No longer.  When Sage finds himself essentially sold to a nobleman named Conner it doesn’t take long for him to discover that he is now a pawn in a dangerous game.  Alongside three other orphans of similar age and build Sage is in the competition of a lifetime.  If he wins he will be crowned as prince (the real ruler having died years ago).  If he loses he will be killed.  It’s the ultimate competition and the stakes are as high as they can be.  Part mystery novel, part psychological war, you may see where the book is going at times but you’ll never forget the journey.
