I wanted to like this movie, I really did. However, the constant crying baby in the beginning and that annoying burglar alarm just killed my viewing pleasure. I shut it off during the alarm scene.

Just like any other horror movie, a family moves to a new house and scary things happen; except in this movie, the family moved houses twice, thinking that moving houses was the solution. This movie definitely contained numerous amounts of unexpected jump scares. The part when Elise tells everyone what the problem was, the way she explained it gave me chills and goosebumps. The climax of this movie was really well done. I think “The further” was a good feature to add in this movie. The ending was obviously pointing out that there is a sequel. Overall, this movie might give you nightmares when you sleep.

Not as impressive as the buzz, INSIDIOUS is mostly innocuous. I love Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson, but even their acting couldn't save this unfrightening horror film. And for me not to find it scary is saying something, since GREMLINS scares me to this day. The film veers too much into the realm of supernatural sci-fi fantasy and deals less with what we've come to expect from the modern horror. It's vastly more psychological than I expected, which isn't a bad thing, but how the filmmakers handle it is what brings it down. It felt contrived and dull; it lacked panache. I failed to believe any of it. For any horror fan, I couldn't recommend it.

Definitely worth watching more than once! I liked it, it was intense most parts. Great cliff hanger!

Five stars! In my opinion, the movie was very tense and every bit of it was juicy. There were a few scary parts but otherwise...Good job!

Don't find too many good horror movies anymore. This was surprisingly very good as were the next 2. Very rarely do you find the 2nd and 3rd movies of a series worth watching but these are.

Didn’t really know what to expect and was super surprised with this movie. A more of a haunted house type movie than a slasher movie. Overall a different story and premise than most horror movies. Enjoyable for what it is.

I watched this at school with my classmates on Halloween and it was fun to watch with a crowd but it was scary. The part i liked was when the dad goes and saves his kid from the demon.

I gave this a chance, and it had me going, right up until the STUPID, non-shock climax where they can't imagine letting the protagonist s have a successful, happy ending. No, there has to be a lame, unsurprising shock ending which invalidates everything that's gone before. Blah. Shame on you all, and to hell with you, producers, director, and all. Get an ef-ing clue. This sort of thing has been done to death. A minus 5 stars. Skip it.

California yuppies Josh and Renai Lambert and their three kids haven’t even finished unpacking when they realize their stately new house has a few unsettling quirks—but when eldest son Dalton falls into an unexplained coma after an impromptu visit to the attic things slowly take a turn for the bizarre. Several months later a still comatose Dalton is being cared for at home when a series of frightening visitations convince Renai that his illness is more spiritual than physical causing her to seek some rather unorthodox interventions despite her husband’s objections. With their son’s soul in the balance the Lamberts find themselves involved in a supernatural tug-of-war with only two possible outcomes: life, or eternal damnation. Director James Wan takes a fairly straightforward “demons in the belfry” haunted house story and dresses it up with such ballsy panache that I found myself smiling even as I teetered on the edge of my seat. The usual assortment of frights and shocks are served up with style thanks to some highly effective lighting and camerawork while an underlying dark humour in the form of a pair of bickering ghostbuster geeks and their elderly mentor (a deadly earnest Lin Shaye) begins as comic relief but quickly leads to a wild seance-cum-exorcism that practically leaps off the screen in a hail of quick edits and exploding flashbulbs. A visit to the netherworld provides a final creepy treat as Dalton’s dilemma is explained by a series of macabre tableaux awash in a sea of fog machines and lurid neon. Even the inevitable twist ending that promises a sequel (already out on DVD) had me laughing more out of anticipation than annoyance. It’s all chills and nonsense of course, but presented with such deadpan cheekiness (look for Wan’s sly allusion to his Saw movie franchise) that it won over my better judgement just the same. If you’re looking for a smart popcorn thriller that’s easy on the brain without being insulting you need look no further.
