"In high school, You don't get to change. You only get to walk variations of the same lines everyone has already drawn for you."

I read this book because I saw there was some controversy over making it a reading choice for a freshman english class. It was a hard book to read at times because you can see how violence and bullying can slip through the cracks. Not reported because the bullied don't want more problems or hidden from view by being caught alone. I think Leila Roy, the author of the article, captured my feelings quite right (she in the quote refers to the mother who intially protested the book):

"Where she’s overstepped is in assuming that because the book is wrong for her and for her daughter, that it’s wrong for all of the other students enrolled in that class. Where she’s overstepped is in making that decision for all of those other families, for all of those other students."

I really liked it. It's a brutal reality to bullying and how mean girls could be, and overcoming bullying.

This is a very skewed, but somewhat realistic, depiction of a high school. It's not like my high school, but I could see these events taking place at some other schools that I've heard of. The characters are interesting.

This book is awesome!!! I mean the bullying part: not so much but this book is an actual page turner. I love it! It makes me realize how mean some people can be and who your REAL friends are.

The book showed us what girl cliques are can really be and how they treat others. Especially, if you are not in the clique anymore. It makes you think about the victim and the bullies. It is a depressing book.

Besides the fact that the characters were sort of cliche, this book is pretty good. Very intense.

A lot like her book Cracked Up To Be. Well written. Some Of the events were a little over dramatic when compared to the rest of the story and other reality fiction when something like Regina's situation comes into play. If you liked Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson you'll like this. Over all it was very well written and a good read, I read it in about a day. The portrayal of the high school setting was great!

I loved this book! I thought it was very good and actually opened my eyes because i know things like this actually happen! The author did a great job and i connected with the main character, Regina. It made me so frusterated when they kept bullying her, the things they did were insane and horrible.

"I knew it," Michael says. "I knew you were lying. I couldn't figure out who a bitch like you would know my mother, much less be friends with her."
