a short read of a story about a pilot who saves a woman and comes to understand a truth of life. on the surface the metaphysical or philosophical message is interesting but ultimately the author carries it too far for me to accept. in parts the book becomes too preachy and repetitive but overall worth the read

This is a fascinating little novel by the author of the world-renowned 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull'. 'Hypnotizing Maria' must have hypnotized me, because after reading it the 1st time I picked it right back up and reread it to redigest the important ideas inside. It's not perfect and I couldn't agree with everything written in it, but most of this resonated well with me and crossreferenced well with other such messages. I really enjoyed this unique perspective of metaphysical-spiritual-philosophical ideas threaded into stories of an airplane pilot's trip. It can either help to understand weighty books from beings such as Seth and 'Abraham', or introduce such concepts before reading those. So it seemed best to read it in small morsels, to have time to digest all the lessons and ideas. There's lots of them, even in such a small novel. Be prepared to have your outlook, and possibly even your life, changed after reading this!
