Very predictable, still a good read though. Love the MCR reference.

Maddy’s parents have just split up and she’s starting school in a new town. She’s been labeled “Freak Girl” by her classmates. When her father gets her a copy of Fields of Fantasy, she retreats into her online gaming persona and starts flirting with Sir Leo, another character online. She soon discovers that there’s a good chance Sir Leo is her classmate. This is a fun read that would be good for younger teens, although it is predictable and tries too hard at dropping pop culture references.

This book had some good points in it. It was an interesting read that some girls could relate to. But it also had a lot.to be desired. It just needed more. If this book was longer and more detailed it might have done a bit better.

Gamer Girl is a story about Maddy, a girl going through her parents divorce. Maddy had to move to New Hampshire with her Mom and little sister to live with her Grandma, away from her home in Boston and her friends. Maddy instantly becomes the laughing stock of the school because of her Grandma. She has trouble making friends in this new school, feeling as if she is alone.
On her birthday her Dad gives her the computer game she has been wanting to play for awhile, Fields of Fantasy. She creates her character Allora, Elfin Princess and meets Sir Leo, a kind-hearted knight. They form a friendship, then maybe a little more. All through this, Maddy has to deal with her feelings for the almost to perfect, and unattainable Chad, making friends and starting an Manga Club, and submitting her own story for a competition. She faces bullying, and the trouble of new schools, but in the end she gets the boy, and friends.
