Everyone in the cast does a great job, but Holly Hunter takes it up a notch. The whole supernatural element works very well with the crime drama and the whole thing is quirky enough to pull it off. In a way it kind of reminds me of Northern Exposure, although it does not have Norhern's genius. Still it is very good. It did well in the US but Fox cancelled it because it wasn't doing as well internationally, which is no surprise, since Oklahoma City and its denizens must seem like Mars to foreigners used to LA and NYC. And I think the show would still have been good even without the angelic theme. Holly would have made sure of that.

I personally consider this one of the best series I've ever seen on TV.
It has many layers that kept me engaged, even though I don't like when women "sell out" to a "masculine" mind set. Grace is a kick-ass, take-no-prisoners cop in OKC who abuses herself with alcohol and mindless sex while trying to exorcise her personal demons. In a dark moment she calls for help from God, and ends up with Earl the angel who may or may not come when she calls, and who may pop her on top of a mountain on a whim. Nudity and language are not recommended for children. One of Holly Hunter's best roles and great supporting actors/actresses.
