The original of this USA copy is also available at the library and much much better: "Mostly Martha" is in German with English subtitles and really a great film! There is no way Catherine Zeta Jones can pull off the depth the very famous German actress does and her Italian co-star is one of the greats too! Funny, tragic, and an unusual love affair.

Like many other romantic comedies, 'No Reservations' relies heavily on cliches and features not only a predictable happy ending but also a lot of obvious story elements before then. At the same time, however, the film has a lot that's truly special. To begin with, co-star Aaron Eckhart radiates charisma, and the screen seems to light up whenever he's around. As well, the film's many moments behind-the-scenes in the kitchen of a major restaurant do a brilliant job in capturing how the best cooks truly are artists at heart.

The story focuses on a workaholic chef, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, dealing with the death of her more free-spirited sister and the emotional turmoil that her nice, played by Abigail Breslin, is going through. If somebody's willing to overlook the heavy focus on genre tropes and focus on the characters, then he or she will find plenty that's well worth seeing. In the end, the detailed picture of restaurant life, on its own, is fascinating to watch. It's a charming. warm film.

It was sometimes frustrating to watch Zeta-Jones' character who showed a lack of emotion in what I find to be the most emotional scenes in the movie. On the other hand, Breslin did a phenomenal job as a grieving young girl who's forced to immediately adapt to a whole new life with her aunt. Overall, I enjoyed this movie, and I was pleased that it didn't only focus on romantic relationships, but on other types of connections and relationships as well.

pretty good. love the restaurant/chef atmosphere. classy. zeta-jones character is a bit frustrating, though. i don't think she quite deserved the happiness at the end because she was not really a nice person, BUT oh well. at least the little girl and love interest seemed happy, so i guess that counts for something.

It's definitely a movie, and fairly predictable, but very cute! LOL

This movie was on last Saturday night and as I watched it I said, "this feel familiar". I had watched the German version of this film (which is the original) called Most Martha which this movie is the American version.

Very predictable and very annoying. CZJ has been starring in crap lately.
