I personally did not like the point of view and the author's style. I was unable to finish the novel because I got so bored reading of it. The mother was protecting the kids from this "secret" between her and her husband, and now she thinks they are grown up enough to know it that will change their life forever. It was a long buildup to know what exactly it is she's going to tell them, and I was too disinterested to even find out what it was. She discusses her personal life of her youth and view points on sexuality I just found it awkward and strange to even read it let alone think she would say this aloud to her kids.. just not my style!

Interesting concept--having the whole story take place in one evening. I felt the "secret" was not as earth-shattering as one would expect.
