In an effort to find out why 37% of Americans are overweight, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock interviewed everyone, from doctors to cooks to kids, and spent one month eating only McDonald's food for every meal. This film is an eye-opener for all of us.

Classic documentary. Gets points across with gentle humour. Entertaining throughout. You will never think of McDonald's in the same way again. I still love their French fries though, even if they are shown to be things that suspiciously never get moldy. Must be a starch thing. At least, that is what I tell myself.

This DVD version had games for kids (meant for schools?) instead of the wonderful DVD extras including the interview with Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation. Look out for that version instead. Oh and in that version they deep-fry a Mars Bar. Who wouldn't want to see that!

It surprised me how McDonald can make you gain so much weight if you eat it everyday 3 times a day.

* Repost *

Watched this hyperbole documentary several years ago and it raised my awareness of the value or lack of in fast foods. I don't eat McDonald food (overly sweetened, salted and reconstructed beef/chicken/buns/dressing) anymore. Like Michael Moore's work, choke full of hilarious yet poignant commentaries in the film. (The bonus material is worth noting as well.)

An indictment of the kind of "food" on which I was raised but no longer consume. Informative, yes, funny, yes, but most of all, it forced people to re-examine their own North-American lifestyle of choice. Still good after multiple viewings.

great DVD!
It will change the way you think about fast food.
my daughter and I watched it about several years ago. And she told me we are NOT going to eat fast food any more! And we haven't set foot into a McDonald's or any other fast food since watching it.

McNauseating. An admirable (and brave! lol) experiment from Morgan Spurlock, with predictably dismal results. The statistics are frightening, even though his presentation was entertaining and whimsical. I think I'll go make a salad...

At times funny, at times compelling; an indictment of our society's lack of nutrition, despite its gluttonous consumption of essentially empty calories.

That's my sister down there !! LOL. awsome documentary. entertaining and not boring. funny, but he speaks the truth. I don't know how anyone else could film it. It was such a creative expierment, that only he could think of. It wakes you up from the realitly that people are killing themselves eating thbis food.Obesity is nothing to joke about. One thing for sure, it really makes me think twice about eating fast food. Just like my sister though, I will still eat the food loll just not all the time.

My sister told me about this documentary and I ended up seeing it with my family. This documentary exposes shocking details about McDonald's. I felt bad for the guy that had to eat McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This was a good documentary and now it's making me think more about what he said about McDonald's but ill still eat there. I love their fries. Lol. Funny too. A must see.

Morgan:
We called 100 nutritionists all over America. And the results were not on track with the vast majority McDonald's talked about. Only two out of the 100 said you should eat fast food two times a week or more. Twenty-eight said once a week to once or twice a month. And 45 said you should never eat it.

Another disturbing fact: Over the course of the 30 days, I generated more than 13 bags of garbage. Multiply my daily amount by 46 million - the amount of people they feed each day - and you get enough garbage to fill the Empire State Building... every single day... and thats only 1 fast food chain... in one day.

Dr. Satcher: One of the most disturbing things to me is that in the last 20 to 25 years, we've actually seen a doubling of overweight and obese children and adolescents.

Morgan Spurlock (after eating most of the Super-Sized double quarter pounder with cheese meal): "....See, now's the time of the meal when you get the McStomach-Ache... You start gettin' the McTummy... You get, you get the McGurgles in there... You get the McBrick... Then you get the McStomach-Ache. Right now, I got, I got some McGas that's rockin'... My arm, my arms -- I feel like I got some McSweats goin'... My arms got the McTwitches goin' in here from all the sugar that's goin' in my body right now... I'm feelin' a little McCrazy..."
