If you want to be entertained (mindlessly), this movie works. But if you apply a tiny amount of critical thinking, the plot does not make a whole lot of sense.

It is an unnecessary sequel, and most of the plot / time is spent setting up the next (3rd) Sicario movie.

Liked this way better than the original, felt more solid with me. I was totally hooked and am now going to go to bed late as I actually watched it right to the end (rather than waiting tomorrow to finish it). This movie really went places I didn't expect it to go and didn't feel cheesy or cliched as an action movie. The child actress, Isabela Moner, was amazing and raised the stakes of to the nth degree. Benicio Del Toro also put in a great performance.

With the personal conflict of a disdain for war, monitizing on other people's struggles, etc., yet the guilty pleasures of being entertained by said atrocities, I thoroughly enjoyed Sicaro (Hitman)- Day of the Sodora (I am a Soldier). Del Toro had me convinced he was a hard core Mexican back in "Traffic" (2000?) whereas in reality, his birthplace is Peurto Rico and he evokes a Bronx persona; and Josh Brolin's portrayal of a steeled, confident man's man in the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men had grabbed my favour of his talents. The sequel finds the two in the latter days of their soldiering careers, war-weary and beginning to second guess their core beliefs. Thus, the title may be applicable to them and/or the recruitment of a young boy by cartels. Giving a fourth perspective of collateral damage of the drug wars, human trafficking and the onslaught of, what has become, daily massacres, the young girl, use to the spoils of high living derived from illicit monies and ruthless power. As timely as ever, thought provoking, great acting, direction by the fellow who directed an Italian TV series Gomorrah (a mediocre soulful tale of community corruption); complimented with spectacular stunts and cinematography. An interesting "making of" included in the special features completes the package.

Brolin and del Toro reprised their roles as in the 2015 Sicario as CIA agents working to incite a drug cartel war. Their operation was somehow compromised and to prevent a diplomatic crisis, they must cut their losses and sanitize what had been done, a big and dangerous mess. Not as engaging and fresh but captured the same violence and grit as the original.

Most interesting scene: at 14:20 mark that showed housing on both side of the double border fence, a dirt drive road in between, at the US-Mexico border at McAllen, Texas.

Follow up to "Sicario" this sequel merits a higher rating if only for the fact that the character played by Emily Blunt has been dropped. One can easily image how this line of "Sicario" movies will be viewed with delight by Donald Trump, otherwise lots of killing etc., etc.

Violent. Bloody. Awesome!!!!

How good this movie is completely depends on whether there is a third installment in the franchise (which it definitely sets up). If it does not continue then this will be seen as a disappointing sequel. If there are follow-up movies this one will be viewed as quite intriguing.

Way better than the original though the ending is highly improbable ...

Clean the scene. When I say clean, gentlemen, I mean spotless. Your operative included.
-Do you hard he was to make ... (another operative)
I could throw a stick across the river and hit 50 grieving fathers. Make another one.
-Can't do that.
Well, look who doesn't have the stomach for it now.
-Oh, who are you to question me after all the shXt that I've eaten for you?
So, if their passports were fake, they'd fly straight to Kansas City instead of going to Mexico and hiring coyotes to truck them a hundred miles to the desert, right? So, the big question is: How'd they get to Mexico? 'Cause they sure as hell didn't fly.
