Unlike many other horror movies, 'A Quiet Place' is not just about psychopathic serial killers, chattering zombies, or demented clowns. It's about the future of a family struggling to survive in a silent world. Everything seemed very thought out and executed neatly, and the acting and CGI was excellent. I really enjoyed this movie, and even if it was a bit like a horror movie, I would more classify it as a post-apocalyptic thriller without too much blood and gore.

The aliens(?) weren't as novel as I was led to believe. Overall the story isn't bad. But the girl's cochlear implant causing problems for the creatures made no sense, and there was never any attempt to explain it. The implants convert air pressure (sound wave) changes to electric audio signals. There's no way this should cause feedback for any biological organism.

We never learn if the aliens(?) are a technnological species. They don't seems to be. So then how did they end up on Earth? We know a meteor crash happened in Mexico. Was it a ship with escaped vermin? Or are these organisms whose eggs or spores were left on a space rock and somehow survive re-entry?

The ending was less that satisfying.

Would like to see a flick about the early days of this invasion.

Interesting movie but has a lot of logic errors with plot

This film was one of the more creative horror films to come out in a long time. The fact that the characters have to use sign language in order to communicate, regardless of whether they can hear or not, due to the monsters hunting them, was a definite plus.

Horror movies that are grounded in something greater, whether that is social commentary or family dynamics really helps elevate them. This film is an example of the latter. The world has basically ended, and there are pockets of humanity desperately trying to survive monsters that hunt through sound. We follow one family's journey through that, which includes grief and a brokeness where the communication problems go beyond the silence which they have to live in.

There are a few eye-rolling moments, of course, where the family has the peril stacked up on them in ways that aren't organic to the story, and are just there to try to add to the tension. All they succeeded in for me, though, was pulling me out of the story.

The ending kind of fell flat for me, as well. It was the only misstep in what was otherwise a better horror film.

This plot has more holes in it than a hobos socks.
Great acting, but, that doesn't outshine the suspension of disbelief the viewer has to engage in.
Figures it's a Michael Bay movie.
Great potential; Lackluster presentation.

Nicely done...the ending was golden.

Clever, unique, genuinely scary, but most importantly: Character-driven. Unlike the vast majority of horror movies, the characters are not just bodies to be butchered. The characters matter, we get to know them, and they have arcs. Thus, it has an emotional core that most movies in the genre don't even try for. Primal fear is just one component of a far richer emotional tapestry.

That said, I wouldn't mind a wacky mindless side movie where these terrifying creatures fight Xenomorphs or something. :D Or a far darker movie where we see a global view of when these things first struck.

Lastly: I'm genuinely surprised no one else has posted a review yet. This movie made a splash.

After watching this movie, I was surprised to see it was only 90 minutes as it seemed much longer. This was perhaps exacerbated by the virtual lack of dialogue, but some parts just dragged. That being said, if you're like me and really appreciate scary-looking monsters, this movie is worth it. I would rather be pursued by the Predator or Alien than this nightmarish ogre!

I really enjoyed this - was hesitating to watch it on my own because of the reviews saying how "terrifying" it was - but I found it as scary as watching Jurassic Park for the first time.

I'd watch it again - mostly because I missed a key part of the film because the DVD kept freezing - so I guess missed about 20 minutes or so of the story line.

Fabulous cast - very well done - love John K (K because I have no idea how to spell his name) and love Emily Blunt - the actors who played their children were amazing too.

Violence: One character steps on a protruding nail, expresses pain, and pulls her foot off of it with lots of blood. Some uses of guns and there are images of blood and injuries. There's a particularly intense scene when a child is drowning in a grain silo.
