Tour-de-force film with an epic performance by J. Phoenix. Violent and pretty damn dark but the clever use of American music pop music from long ago (corny romantic ballads juxtaposed against contemporary themes as human trafficiking/political corruption) only enhances the IRONY of the American past (fabled romantic love) and the reality of today----hideous treatment of women by the hands of the elite---

If you think all movies should be like "All Dogs go to Heaven".....avoid this film....so that I can avoid reading your ignorant comments and the confirmation that I live in Nation of low-IQ idiots.

Incredibly bad. Action scenes are pathetic and the story is stupid.

This drama/thriller film is about a young girl who goes missing, causing an intense investigation that reveals a lot of corruption and torture. This movie contained a lot of powerful performances that really allowed you to delve deep into the true meanings of each of the characters as well as their roles in the storyline. What I liked about the movie most is how the director did a great job at bringing out the poetic elements of the film and turning something small into something big and wonderful. I would rate this movie 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to those who are searching for something different. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

I expected so much more from this film. It was awful, and a complete waste of time.

Sadly a convoluted film that moves through time with no reason. By far not even close to her last film “let’s talk about Kevin “. The acting is not bad.. it’s worse.

An interesting movie, kind of a dark David Lynch-ish Mulholland Drive meets Taxi Driver cinema feel I suppose. Good sleazy characters if you like that sort of thing, the story is mostly chronological with a few weird flashbacks here and there. I'd watch it again in a year and let myself get drawn into the mood of the movie, if you know what I mean.

A weird movie, but I guess that's why they call it an art. Joaquin Phoenix dazzles.
