An unexpected ending though not a satisfying one that piggy backed on familiar story about an emotionally broken hitman who was an angel to some like his aging mother and lost women while executioner to others, particularly sex-traffickers. An adaptation of a 2013 novel by Jonathan Ames, Reached for FF button on slow scenes and wished for a better ending.

Sadly a convoluted film that moves through time with no reason. By far not even close to her last film “let’s talk about Kevin “. The acting is not bad.. it’s worse.

An interesting movie, kind of a dark David Lynch-ish Mulholland Drive meets Taxi Driver cinema feel I suppose. Good sleazy characters if you like that sort of thing, the story is mostly chronological with a few weird flashbacks here and there. I'd watch it again in a year and let myself get drawn into the mood of the movie, if you know what I mean.

A weird movie, but I guess that's why they call it an art. Joaquin Phoenix dazzles.

Hypnotic, mysterious film about brutal but effective retriever of missing girls, focusing in this story on very young sex slave of powerful politician. Excellent direction, Joaquin Phoenix is dynamite, use of song Angel Baby, particularly the first time, is memorable. Based on a short story, deals with child abuse and exploitation, whiff of NY political and police corruption. Retribution for evildoers occurs not as act of vigilantism, but in the course of performing good deeds, self-defense.
