I did not think I would like this book. It was great to read such a genuine discussion about race. My "race radar" was on and Jim Wallis did not disappoint.
This should be required reading for all churchgoers and non-churchgoers.

Great book! A must have! Confirmed what I already knew about America but taught me so much more about history and re-awakened my hope for a better future.

The Christian guilt trip is adapted for use as racist propaganda to demonize people who dare to obstruct the totalitarian agenda of humanism. Nevertheless, Jim's "evangelical take" deserves one half star as follows: 1/4 star for reminding us about the ugly nature of the "civil rights movement" plus another 1/4 star for bringing Christianity into disrepute again. Zero stars for promoting divisiveness, enmity, and so on. Likewise, zero stars for trivializing rampant narcissism, malice, and criminality among America's blacks---who appear as unready as ever to admit that blacks helped to enslave their ancestors prior to the middle passage.

It's by the way that the Christian doctrine of originated original sin has at least two obnoxious features in addition to the one already indicated. First, it distorts the nature of intrinsic human imperfection. Second, it tramples down justice by suggesting that it's right to punish the innocent.
