Not my favorite of Ruth Ware's, but a decent story.

It wasn't Ruth Ware's best, but enjoyed the plot....although predictable.

This book is overrated, it was way too long and the characters were not likeable at all.

Very slow book - long, long, long!

I give this one four stars for how well it functions as a cautionary tale. As a wise woman once said: "Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. The choices we make."

Four friends meet at boarding school when they are fifteen years old. They are brought back together seventeen years later to deal with a decision they all made together. As we read about their teenage escapades we see how deceiving others is a game you just can't win.

The story is told from the POV of Isa Wilde. She is a lawyer and a mother and her baby Freya is also a potential victim of her choices. I found her and all the girls to be a bit difficult to embrace, but of the four Isa definitely is the most invested in digging up the truth and free them once and for all. Will they ever truly be free? That is why we find this book difficult to put down.

Great book! A little bit of the plot was tedious and boring. It was sort of predictable....But it was an excellent read and well-written!

One of the most boring books I have ever tried to read. Quit it at half. repetitive, long winded and basically drawn out. A story that could be told on ten pages. Who cares????? Highly over-rated! Who picks these supposed Best Sellers, the publishers??? Please stop pushing stupid books!!!! I am a total book lover, and read extensively, but this is the first time I had to post a comment. I felt that strongly about it.

Another twisty, atmospheric book with an ultra-creepy setting. Ware has a very easy-to-read writing style, with short chapters that keep you reading "just a few more pages". She continues to be one of my new go-to mystery authors.

Not a usual choice of mine. The story was okay, mostly keeping me engaged though at times it did bog down and I just wanted to shout: 'get on with it already'. The last three chapters were a faster pace. This is not a memorable book, just something to past the time.

Found this a bit tedious. I found the characters were not particularly likeable or interesting.
